for sexual and secular reference, what i'm currently listening to:
FC/Kahuna - track 5 (the one i played at the burning man party as helgabunny that won the crowd over...yeah, i fucking rule).

sheeeei.t.

so i was just reminded for some reason about the time i was driving on the 2-lane road in the middle of fucking nowhere in nevada on my way to new moonie when the car light came on, saying..."check engine" but it's a yellow light, not red, so that's only sort of bad, right?

CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:

Tiga - DJ Kicks mix (K7) - this is really good. i finally get it. very glam, very now. even though much of this stuff is 12-20 years old. or it sounds like that, i should say. buxom.

other recent listens for your health:
Massive Attack - 100th Window (virgin) - decent, have to listen to it more, something's missing.
Various - Hooj presents: Le Future Le Funk (hooj) - pretty good, glitzy techno.
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights (matador) - amazing record.
Mouse On Mars - Glam (thrill jockey) - rerelease of older album that's quite impressive. out in May.
Nobukazu Takemura - 10th (thrill jockey) - shite. nearly unbearable flinty digital abstractions. crap.
Grape Dope - "missing dragons" EP (galaxia) - forgettable, i think from santa cruz. collage/barrage annoying.
Spacek - Vintage Hi-Tech (K7) - spare nuDisco (a la metro area, brooks) that's kinda lame, boring.
Prefuse 73 - One Word Extinguisher (Warp) - fucking good album, more cut-up hip-hop on the abstract IDM tip from prefuse 73. may confound hip-hoppers though.
Truby Trio - Elevator Music (Compost) - impressive full-length from truby dudes. niiiice. can't wait to hear the uncopy protected long versions of the songs.

i can tell you that the band El Guapo really sucks. i'm listening to this promo right now and it's all i can do from not ripping the cd out of the player and snap it in two. but i'd rather make a couple bucks off it so i won't.
they're on dischord. super-indie.
"we write spare, meandering songs with odd instrumentation and an ardent lack of melody. we hate everything. you've already sold out in the last minute. you suck. don't buy our fucking records." that's what they might say.

me, i'm just bathing in virtual gravy right about now.

hey condors, I gotta fly.

grandma left the scene and decided it was high time she started living her life.
too bad grandma didn't look both ways before crossing the street, huh?
about half an hour ago, a woman was sitting peacefully, comfortably, in the warm california sun, a slight breeze in the air that was making her hair a bit flyaway.
but she managed.
she continued to read, unaware that disaster was about to strike.

in a mere moment of ill-moving swinging lower calves, her errant leg knocked into her paper cup on the ground, housing her wondrous coffee sensation, in the hopes to be sipped again very soon.

alas, it was not to be.
the entire thing spilled onto the ground.

it was clear the woman was frustrated, maybe even upset. a random "awww," an aural form of acknowledge sympathy for the woman, was heard from another care-loving woman, but it did little to assuage the loss of the java from its cup.

when it was clear there was no possibility of salvaging the coffee, she got up, tossed the paper cup into the trash and began walking angrily away, still stewing about her profound loss, stunned by the enormity of it all. what she thought was still available to her was snatched away in an instant, never to be recovered.

oh, it's a sad tale alright.
i wonder, where is that woman now?
and is she crying?

god only knows, my friends. god only knows.
